Il y a une douzaine d’ann\u00e9es le sociologue Edgar Morin publiait une tribune cosign\u00e9e par deux autres intellectuels[1]<\/a> dans le journal “Le Monde”<\/em>. Il s’agissait d’un br\u00fblot \u00a0intitul\u00e9 “Isra\u00ebl-Palestine : le cancer”<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> posant que les palestiniens avaient le droit pour eux dans tous les cas de figure. Mais au del\u00e0 de ce postulat creux le texte \u00e9tait truff\u00e9 de contrev\u00e9rit\u00e9s, d’\u00e9lucubrations et de mensonges visant \u00e0 diaboliser Isra\u00ebl. Plus tard la revue “Controverse”<\/em> publia une\u00a0 \u00e9tude<\/a> qui pulv\u00e9risait les sophismes de Morin.<\/p>\n

Suite \u00e0 cette tribune Avocats sans fronti\u00e8res et France-Isra\u00ebl\u00a0engag\u00e8rent une proc\u00e9dure pour antis\u00e9mitisme. Lors d’un premier proc\u00e8s les plaignants furent d\u00e9bout\u00e9s, mais plus tard\u00a0 la Cour d’Appel condamna Morin pour \u00ab diffamation raciale et apologie des actes de terrorisme \u00bb<\/em>. Finalement la Cour de Cassation mit un terme aux poursuites en consid\u00e9rant que la tribune relevait de la libert\u00e9 d’expression.<\/p>\n

La gauche dont se r\u00e9clame Morin n’a jamais r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 \u00e9liminer l’antis\u00e9mitisme dans ses rangs malgr\u00e9 un antiracisme de fa\u00e7ade. Il d\u00e9non\u00e7ait d’ailleurs lui-m\u00eame d\u00e8s 1959 dans son livre “Autocritique”<\/em> le d\u00e9voiement du communisme et les raisons qui l’emmen\u00e8rent \u00e0 s’en d\u00e9solidariser. Il reconnaissait \u00e0 quel point il s’\u00e9tait fourvoy\u00e9 au cours de sa jeunesse par rapport \u00e0 sa condition juive:<\/p>\n

\u00ab D\u00e9j\u00e0 avant guerre, j’avais peur de r\u00e9agir en Juif aux \u00e9v\u00e9nements politiques, et j’\u00e9tais heureux de m’opposer, pacifiste, au \u00ab bellicisme \u00bb de la plupart des autres. Au cours de l’\u00e9t\u00e9 1940, je me disais : \u00ab Mieux vaut le salut de 40 millions de Fran\u00e7ais que celui de 500 000 Juifs. \u00bb Les premi\u00e8res mesures raciales me renforc\u00e8rent dans cette sorte d’acceptation attrist\u00e9e … \u00ab J’\u00e9tais m\u00eame pr\u00eat a accepter l’immolation des Juifs si le salut des autres Fran\u00e7ais \u00e9tait \u00e0 ce prix – si la fatalit\u00e9 de l’Histoire l’exigeait.<\/em><\/p>\n

Morin nous r\u00e9v\u00e9lera-t-il un jour ce que\u00a0 la fatalit\u00e9 de l’Histoire <\/em>exige d’Isra\u00ebl ?<\/p>\n
